Singing sensation Elin Fflur launched her new album with a commemorative gig last night. And the Llanfairpwll star promised her fans they would be impressed with the new record. Elin and her band officially release their second album, Cysgodion (Shadows), on December 14. They chose to preview the new material in a concert at Caernarfon’s Cofi Roc. Elin, who is starring at the Daily Post’s December 13 Thousand Voices Concert, said her latest album is a “step forward” from last year’s debut release, Dim Gair.

‘Most of the songs on Dim Gair were written a few years back and my influences have changed since I’ve grown older,’ said the 21 year old. ‘As my personality’s matured, so’s my music matured. When I was 15, I listened to pop music but now bands like Keane and Damien Rice are my favourite artists.’

The Anglesey singer said the album had a more diverse sound. She is now writing songs, not just on her own, but with her band, made up of guitarist Nathan Owen, bassist and backing singer Siôn Llwyd and drummer Deian Elfryn. Nathan’s into bluesy jazz and Deian likes his American rock. Siôn’s taste is more mellow.

After last night’s gig, Elin was jetting to Prague, where she is filming a video for S4C’s pop show Bandit. She is also currently touring schools across Wales with other Welsh-language acts Kentucky AFC, Maharishi and Lisa Pedrick.

Her new album is produced by Rob Reed and Nigel Hopkins who also worked with Elin on Dim Gair.
