ELIN
FFLUR’s career has gone from strength to strength,
and in the National Eisteddfod in Swansea this year,
she will be releasing her new EP, ‘Ysbryd Efnisien’.
There are three songs on the EP, two original songs
and Elin’s version of the song ‘Meillionen’
by the Big Leaves.
There
is a lot of history to the EP, according to Elin; ‘About
a year ago I signed a managing contract with David Aspden,
who used to manage Bonnie Tyler for 20 years. I met
him in a studio in London when I was invited to sing
with a group called ITSO Music. Nothing came of the
group but I kept in contact with David. This last year
has been excellent, I’ve been fortunate to be
able to work with many very talented people who have
helped me give a much more mature sound to my songs.’
It
is hoped that she will release a new Welsh album early
in 2007 and she will continue to work on material for
her English album. Elin is determined to continue with
her career in Wales; ‘I feel that artists such
as Gruff Rhys and Euros Childs have proven that it is
possible to work in both languages, and compilations
such as the Welsh Rare Beat also introduce new people
to Welsh music.’
Elin will launch the new EP in the Barons club, Swansea
on Saturday 5th August (Cymdeithas yr Iaith gig with
Dafydd Iwan and Ar Log) and in Maes-B on Wedensday,
9th August (with Meinir Gwilym and Daniel Lloyd a Mr
Pinc). Following the warm reception she received in
the Faenol in 2004, Elin will return to the stage in
Tân y Ddraig, on Monday 28th August – a
gig which Elin is really looking forward to.
